Flower prints were seen all over the runway at the men’s spring/summer 2016, so if you want to stay bang on trend when it comes to streetwear clothing, here are our tips on how to adopt the floral look.
Instead of big flowery blooms, think petite florals when it comes to prints. While this trend is bold, you want to steer clear of the Hawaiian shirt look and perhaps go for a more subtle style.
Find a shirt with delicate, small flowers for a summery outfit, or simply keep it low-key by adding a colourful, floral tie, belt or scarf.
Of course, just because you’re wearing flowery prints, it doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be big, bold and colourful.
Indeed, Gucci’s spring/summer 2016 runway introduced monochrome florals, with black and white suits embellished with head-to-toe flowers. The designer jazzed up the outfit even more by tailoring a bellbottom flare in the trousers, teaming the suit with a pale blue cowboy shirt and leather sandals.
This look is all about contrasts, but works well when the bold pattern is kept in black and white.
Go for a modern look
It can be tempting to fully embrace the floral look and perhaps opt for a more vintage style. However, the best way to look smart and stylish is to juxtapose your flowers with contemporary trends.
Team your flowery suit with a crisp tailored shirt, or match your floral shirt with smart short-shorts. You want to avoid looking kitsch so try to wear something that looks modern and fresh and you’ll be on to a winner.
