Looking Cool – & Staying That Way – This Summer

We keep hearing in the news that there’s a heatwave on the way, with temperatures expected to consistently reach 30 degrees C. So how can you carry on looking as good as you always do in your urban clothing when the mercury starts soaring? Here are a few suggestions to help you keep your cool.

So, if you haven’t done so already, now’s the time to start stocking up on the likes of chinos, soft linen shirts and trousers, and – obviously – lots of shorts. We recently blogged about how short shorts are now where it’s at for men this season so don’t be afraid to get your legs out the next sunny day that comes along. Pair them with some loafers or boat shoes and you’ll have the look down pat.

Cotton is a great material to wear in the summer as it’s both lightweight and breathable, which means you’re less likely to work up a sweat in a cotton suit at work than if you wore something else. But don’t forget that linen is one of the best fabrics to get yourself dressed in at this time of year since it’s airy and quick-drying. And luckily, you can get absolutely anything in linen, whether you want some shirts, shorts or a pair of trousers.

And, of course, you should absolutely not forget to fill your summer wardrobe with pairs of chinos in a variety of different colours. These go with anything, so you can rock them for work and then head out for a few beers once you’ve finished at the office and no one will bat an eyelid. Summer shades like greys, blues and whites work well, but if you’re feeling brave salmon pink is where it’s at.
